News from our recent Diocesan Assembly:
At last week’s Diocesan Assembly, the percentage proportional giving plan was overwhelmingly passed. The percentage for parishes’ monthly giving to the Diocese will be 13%. This will take effect on January 1, 2019. The Diocesan Finance Committee is currently working on a policy that will be circulated to parishes by the end of the year if not sooner. The Assembly also approved the budget for 2019.

Also at the Diocesan Assembly, an exploratory committee has been formed chaired by Fr. Jonathan Lincoln of St. Joseph Church in Wheaton, IL. The group will assess the feasibility of engaging in a major fundraising endeavor to raise $150,000 to $200,000 for a medical clinic to be built in the Diocese of Kenya. Mind you this will not involve going to our DOM parishes for these funds (as we have done in the past with the motorbike collection, and Alaska-Mexico efforts). This project if deemed to be doable, will be done in conjunction with the Orthodox Christian Mission Center. An initial report will be presented at the Diocesan Council meeting on November 29th, 2018.

Finally Fr. Herman Kincaid and Carrie Sabourin of the Diocesan Council have been blessed to embark on a project to redesign our Diocesan Web Page to make it a more user friendly website.

If you are holding any special events or celebrating any special services, and would like to share this news with the diocese, contact Fr. John Matusiak to put the event on the diocesan web page. Gather what photos you have and send those to Fr. John along with some bullet points of facts concerning the event. That way he can do a brief write up of the event. Fr. John can be reached at: tocmed@hotmail.com
