LANSING, IL [MW Diocese Communications] -- Priest Danial Doss, Ph.D., will be one of two keynote speakers at the annual lenten seminar sponsored by Saint Archangel Michael Serbian Orthodox Church, 1500 East 186 Street, Lansing, IL on Saturday, April 13, 2013.
Father Danial's topic will be "What Can We Learn from the Lenten Prayer of Saint Ephraim of Syria?"
Priest Vasilije Vranic, Ph.D., also will speak on "Lent as a Path to God."
The program will begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude with lunch at 12:30 p.m.
A native of Egypt, Father Danial frequently visited and stayed at monasteries in the nation's western desert. A graduate of Saint Tikhon's Seminary, he holds a Ph.D. in engineering from the University of California. He currently services Holy Apostles Mission [OCA], Bloomington-Normal, IL, and as a researcher in engineering at Argonne National Lab.
Father Vasilije is a graduate of Saint Sava's Serbian Orthodox School of Theology, Libertyville, IL. He holds a M.A. in theology from Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge; a M.Phil. in Church history from the Faculty of Divinity of the University of Cambridge; and a Ph.D. in religious studies from Marquette University. He serves at Holy Resurrection Cathedral, Chicago, and was recently elected assistant professor at Saint Sava School of Theology.
